Say hello to Manchester.
Ranking third in a global survey of best cities in the world, Manchester should definitely be on your list of places to visit. Time Out surveyed 27,000 people and rankings were based on nightlife, eateries, and cultural highlights. Or perhaps you’re a local to Manchester but want to explore the city you’re lucky enough to call home and find more places to eat great food.
One of the cheapest cities to visit
In addition to the great nightlife and eateries, Manchester has also been rated as one of the cheapest cities in the world to live in. In other words, your money can stretch significantly further here. So long as you don’t spend it all on cheap but tasty bao buns and tacos.
Unsurprisingly, Manchester is home to some of the best restaurants in the U.K. It is a hub for foodies, and you’ll never be short of places to grab a bite. Head over to Escape to Freight Island for a night filled with live music, drinks, and fuelled by extraordinary food.
Or if you’d prefer a cosy date night sipping cocktails whilst watching the sunset, try 20 Stories. Situated in the heart of Spinningfields, 20 Stories also has a rooftop terrace restaurant and bar. Sit back and enjoy a drink under the stars whilst admiring the Manchester skyline.

Eat Great – Wolf At The Door
Firstly, we have Wolf at the Door.
Bao Buns? Check.
Tacos? Check.

Seriously. And they taste amazing, too. With this in mind, Wolf at the Door is the perfect place to grab some food with friends on a Saturday afternoon (or any day of the week, to be honest). As well as Bao Buns and Tacos they also serve loaded fries, starting at £3.50. So fill your boots, all for less than the price of a pint.
With meat, veggie, and vegan options, there’s something for everyone. My personal favourite is ‘Chippy Tea’. “Curried fat chips, chip shop curry sauce & curry dust’ – try it before you judge me, it’s incredible.
Afterwards, you can wander down the cobbled streets of Manchester. Wolf at the Door is situated in the Northern Quarter, a quarter of the city centre bustling with independent food and drink venues and indie businesses. With this in mind, is there anywhere more ideal to spend an afternoon without damaging the lining of your wallet?
Bunny Jackson’s
Not only does Manchester offer £1 Bao Buns and Tacos, but it also is home to 20p chicken wings. Can you even buy a Freddo for 20p nowadays? The answer to that, is no.
Up next we have Bunny Jackson’s. Home of the 20p chicken wing. In addition to their tasty chicken wings which start from 20p, Bunny Jackson’s also serve cold beer, frozen margaritas, whisky, cocktails, live music, and most importantly… “Good times”.
Have a margarita or two whilst you wait for your cheap chicken wings.
20p Chicken Wings
Starting at 20p you have Bunny’s Plain chicken wings. At 30p you have BBQ and buffalo flavour. For 40p you can get Jack Daniel’s wings, Tequila sauce flavour, or spiced rum sesame wings. If your budget can stretch to 50p per chicken wing, and you’re brave enough, why not try the “hotter than the sun” wing?
Despite it being a chicken wing place, veggie wings are also available.
Luck, Lust, Liquor & Burn
If 20p chicken wings sounded good, then £2 tacos should sound great, too. Luck, Lust, Liquor and Burn was inspirsed during a roadtrip from California to Mexico. With this in mind, expect TexMex and SoCal style burritos and tacos on your visit, with flavoured tequilas to accompany your food.
£2 Taco Tuesday
Tuesday will soon become your favourite day of the week. Head to Luck, lust, Liquor and burn for your taco fix for only £2! With meat, veggie, and vegan options, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
What’s more, if you’re still peckish after loading up on tacos, churros are on the menu for dessert. Dusted in cinnamon sugar and served with a rich Nutella dip for only £5, your sweet tooth craving will be fixed without doubt.
Cheap and Tasty
In a word, cheap. In two words, cheap and tasty.
And in case you needed another reason to visit Manchester, now you’ll know you can certainly eat for cheap without scrimping on quality (though I can’t promise incredible blue skies). Manchester is home to some of the best cheap places to eat.
