Say hello to Porto.
Porto is undoubtedly one of the most Instagrammable places I’ve ever been to. Colourful mosaic tiles, fresh flowers blooming in alleyways overlooking the Douro river, around every corner there is something beautiful to appreciate. Not only does Porto have incredible scenery and architecture, but it also has some incredible eateries where the dishes are as equally Instagram worthy. Read on to see my take on 4 of the best and most Instagrammable places to eat in Porto where you can take the perfect Instagram shot.
Cereal World Porto – best for budget breakfasts
To begin with we have Cereal World Porto. Cereal cafes are like Marmite, you either love or hate them.
I think they are great. I like being able to try different cereals from around the world without having to buy an entire box. As tasty as Chocolate Lucky Charms are, I don’t particularly think I could eat them for breakfast every day.
When I visited Cereal World Porto, I chose 3 different cereals to combine together, as well as 2 different toppings which came to €3,50. I chose Dunkin Donuts Caramel Macchiato, Chocolate Lucky Charms, and Chocolate Churros. I then added marshmallows and white chocolate biscuits on top. This was obviously incredibly sweet but equally delicious. You have the option to combine up to 5 different cereals to make your perfect breakfast bowl.
For me it was the perfect way to spend a morning in Porto and was a budget option to fill up before exploring more. Given that it’s a cheap option I think it’s definitely worth a try.
Lazy Breakfast Club – best for beautiful brunches
Lazy Breakfast Club is your perfect Porto brunch spot. I’m so glad I came accross this absolute gem of a brunch restaurant. It’s a popular breakfast spot with locals and tourists alike, so either make a reservation, or be prepared to wait for a table (reader, it’s worth the wait).
I chose a stack of pancakes smothered in chocolate and fruit toppings, with an cookies and cream protein shake on the side. Yes, I ate it all. Lazy Breakfast Club is located in Baxia, a modern and thriving area of Porto. So after you’ve devoured your pancakes or French toast you can roam the cobbled streets before you work up an appetite for some Thai food at Boa Bao…
Boa Bao – best for evening dates
Boa Bao is incredible. The vibe inside was great and their ice tea is incredible. I would travel back to Porto just to visit here again. I couldn’t help but order 3 courses!
It’s not a budget option, but it’s absolutely worth it. I ordered aspeciality ice tea, 2 Bao Buns for starters, a noodle dish for a main, and a coconut creme brulee for dessert which came to €37. They actually have restaurants in Lisbon and Barcelona too, perhaps my next city break location?
Most Beautiful McDonalds in the world – best for what you already know
Ok, I know there are McDonald’s in the majority of countries around the world. BUT, this is definitely the most beautiful. Your Big Mac may not be super Instagram worthy, but your surroundings definitely will be.
Have you ever eaten at a McDonalds with chandeliers and stain glass windows? Because I hadn’t. It’s also somewhere to rest your legs after hours of exploring Porto. Nevertheless, it’s worth a stop just to get a quick snap and a cheap bite to eat.
Over to you
What do you think? If you’ve tried any my suggestions, how did you find them? Or maybe you have your own take on Instagram worthy and best places to eat in Porto. Regardless, let me know!
